WA: Mother and child critical after car hits stroller

A three-year-old boy and his mother are in a critical condition in hospital after a hit and
run driver ran into them in Perth.

Police say the accident happened as the 28-year-old woman was pushing her son in a stroller

in the suburb of Osborne Park yesterday.

They are believed to have been on the footpath at the time.

Police say a blue Ford Festiva apparently failed to negotiate a bend, mounted the kerb and
hit the mother and son before crashing into two parked cars and driving off.

The woman was thrown about 10 metres by the force of the impact and her son was also hurled
down the road, becoming wedged under a parked car while still strapped into his stroller.

Police arrested a man after the car involved was found abandoned several streets away.
